Texas School District Incorporates Video Editing in Multimedia
Curriculum

Excited about the prospect of teaching students to create videos, Arlington Independent School District instructors have enjoyed learning the ins and outs of Ulead VideoStudio 6, Ulead's consumer-level video editing software.

The teachers themselves recommended Ulead VideoStudio for the multimedia program and have been working with it for a little over two months. "Most of the teachers were excited about the possibilities of having their students create videos," said Ed Cannady, director of technology support for the Arlington Independent School District.
According to Cannady, the videos created by the teachers, who are learning the basics of video editing, have generated a positive response throughout the school district.

More than 62,000 students are enrolled in this district, located in the heart of Dallas/Ft. Worth area, making it the ninth largest district in the state of Texas. According to its Web site, 80% of the students enrolled are on an advanced study track. Part of the studies in the district's six high schools will soon include multimedia creation using Ulead VideoStudio.

In its plans for the future, AISD outlines its goal to produce students who are capable of forward and independent thought and action, as well as students who are productive citizens in an ever changing socioeconomic climate. Ulead VideoStudio can play an integral part in teaching students how to think creatively, and possibly reveal hidden videography talent.

Ulead plans to revisit AISD once the program is fully implemented. In doing so, Ulead looks forward to seeing the video projects created by the students and to hear the reactions of those who watch them.
