Kym Jones, a professional graphic designer and illustrator from Adelaide, Australia creates covers for books in print and online as well as illustrations for children's e-books. This creative individual has been using PhotoImpact since version 4.
PhotoImpact "allowed me to get straight into creating without spending a lot of time trying to locate tools and determining their function." Once a user of JASC's Paint Shop Pro, she made the switch to Ulead. "I decided to try it out and the first thing that struck me about it was the ease of navigation and it looked to be very user friendly."
Kym uses Ulead's PhotoImpact for all of her projects. When asked for a run through of some of her basic tasks, we learned that to Kym"...PhotoImpact is pretty much my right arm. This is a difficult question in some respects because PI's capabilities are endless. So, whilst I use it for my covers and illustrations, I also use it for pure relaxation and entertainment."
The "mandala style" images shown here tout not only Kym's talent, but the wide range of materials available in PhotoImpact. Utilizing some of PhotoImpact's other tools sparked her interest, "The EasyPalette is a godsend. I have a myriad of shapes, materials, illustrations and designs that I can drag out and use on their own or combine to create whole new images."
PhotoImpact has become a tool that Kym will "never be able to live without. I've used it to touch up and improve photographs both old and new. I've used it to create entire websites and I constantly use it to paint and draw. So there are not many areas of the software that I don't delve into at some point."
"All in all, I think that Ulead produces quality products at a reasonable price and you can't ask for more than that."
