If you do not recognize the name Jim Warren, you have certainly seen his work. Jim's paintings can be found in galleries, printed on greeting cards in gift shops, and in online specialty stores throughout the United States. Jim most recently won a Grammy award for the creation of Bob Seger's Against the Wind album cover.
Jim embraced internet technology and digital imaging early on in his career to launch a successful web presence featuring his work. He now hosts an online Web store where customers can buy gifts such as puzzles, posters and greeting cards of his paintings.
Although Jim starts on a canvas, a vital step in the creative process involves transferring his paintings into a digital format. For this task, Jim relies on a digital camera and Ulead PhotoImpact.
Jim captures his paintings at high resolution on a digital camera and imports them into PhotoImpact to perform a variety of image manipulation techniques. As Jim is a traditional painter, he prefers to focus his energy on mastering his craft rather than trying to learn a complicated imaging program. "PhotoImpact is amazing because it gives me professional results, yet is much simpler to use than other photo programs."
Jim also concedes, "The only drawback I have seen is that PhotoImpact contains so many easy-to use, cool features and effects, it is sometimes hard to get my kids off it when I need it"
