Ulead PhotoImpact was the only choice for self-taught photographer Glenda Meeler of Shelby, NC, who tried different image editing software programs before choosing PhotoImpact. As the moderator of the Photo Magic forum on the PhotoImpact Resource Center (PIRC) Bulletin Board, http://www.pircnet.com, she regularly gives other PhotoImpact users tips and advice on how to use PhotoImpact to enhance their photos.

Once an Adobe PhotoShop user, Glenda switched to Ulead's PhotoImpact because she felt that Photoshop was difficult to master. "I did not like the idea of having to know the program forwards and backwards before I could do the simplest things with the editing tools," says Meeler, who has been editing images since 1998. "I have used Photoshop and Paintshop 6, and feel that neither compares with the overall capability of PhotoImpact ."

Glenda uses PhotoImpact daily to enhance photos. She also utilizes this robust software tool for digital painting, personal greeting cards and invitations, animations, and even flyers for selling products.

"Using PhotoImpact 7, I first brighten or lighten pictures using the Highlight, Mid tones and Shadow tools," Glenda explains. "I then use the clone tool to eliminate any unwanted effects. Sometimes I find the Light tool very effective in giving my images an added glow of light in a desired area or to the entire image. The soft lens effect is a big plus for changing the overall appearance of my images."

Together with a Minolta X700 35mm camera and a Nikon D1X, Ulead PhotoImpact will eventually assist Glenda in achieving her lifetime goal of becoming a photo gallery owner and professional photographer. Already many of her pictures have been published along with poetry she has written. Creating symmetry between the two mediums was easy with PhotoImpact.

"It's hard to pinpoint which tools are my favorites because they all play an important role in helping me achieve the results I want."
