Quiet Riot Bass Player, Rudy Sarzo, Long-Time MediaStudio Pro User

Quiet Riot Bass Player, Rudy Sarzo, began his foray into non-linear video editing in 1999 when a light version of Ulead MediaStudio Pro came bundled with his ADS FireWire card. Since then, he has been using Media Studio Pro to create Quiet Riot's promotional videos.

Rudy creates the band's videos on a Pentium 4 with 1.6 gigabytes. He also installed the software on his PC laptop so that he can edit footage while on tour.

Most venues where Quiet Riot performs give the band video footage at the end of the concert. Rudy takes the footage and brings it into MediaStudio Pro where he syncs the footage to a new song the band wants to highlight. The band distributes the promotional video to promoters who use the video for creating 30-second television advertisements.

"We create a promotional video for one or two songs only," says Sarzo. "So far we have created three videos to launch the two albums we recorded since 1999: 'Alive and Well," and 'Guilty Pleasures.'"

After trying Adobe Premiere, Sarzo found MediaStudio Pro to have a much lower learning curve. "I could see where other people might have time to spend learning Premiere, but as a musician, I have ten other digital recording software programs I have to learn. I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to one piece of software. MediaStudio Pro gives me all the power I need without complication."

With a new promotional video coming out in 2003, Rudy plans to use both MediaStudio Pro 6.5 and Ulead's advanced DVD authoring software to create a professional looking DVD with menus and motion backgrounds and buttons.
