Midwest Karate Association Creates Instructional DVDs with DVD Workshop

Midwest Karate Association, run by Joel Ertl and Anita Bendickson, in St. Paul, MN, provides people with hands-on martial arts training. To assist students who can't make it to the actual classes, Joel has created an interactive karate DVD. Joel used Ulead DVD Workshop to create the DVD, which is sold via the Web and in schools around the world. These DVDs allow users to quickly jump to each scene they wish to study or practice.

Joel, a 5th degree black belt runs the Midwest Karate Association dojo with his wife, Anita, a 4th degree black belt. The two discovered the Ulead software when trying to find a package suitable for converting an entire library of Shotokan Karate Instructional videos to DVD. Joel and Anita were disciplined in their search for the perfect DVD authoring software. They studied reviews, visited news groups and compared the prices of many products before deciding on Ulead DVD Workshop. "We downloaded the trial version and were really impressed with how easy, flexible and intuitive it was," said Joel.

Concerned about the compatibility of his new DVDs with current DVD home players, Joel sold cautiously. Four months later, after selling almost 200 copies of the DVD, not one return has been made.
