  • I have the ESD or electronic download of PhotoImpact 11. The download links Element5 gave me have already expired. How do I get a new copy of the installer?
  • Do I have to uninstall older versions of PhotoImpact when I install version 11?
    • Different versions of PhotoImpact install separate and new program files. Hence you can safely remove older versions without causing any problems. Just make sure that if you have an upgrade version, you keep a copy of the previous version’s installers in case you'll need to reinstall the software.

  • When I open large images (10,000 x 4,000 pixels and above) in PhotoImpact 10/11 and edit them (e.g. by applying a filter), I get an "insufferent memory" error message even though my computer has 2GB RAM. Is there a maximum resolution/filesize for pictures in PhotoImpact?
    • There is no real solution for this problem. The most memory an application can use under a 32-bit OS like Windows is 2GB. This problem can occur when a large amount of continuous memory is need as when opening and editing very large images. This situation occurs with various applications we have tested. The only difference appears to be the size of the images that cause the problem. Drivers or special modules that are loaded when programs launch can be a cause memory fragmentation. One possible way to resolve the issue is to remove unnecessary drivers or applications from the OS.
  • I can not open RAW files from my digital camera in PhotoImpact 11 , Is there any information to know PI support which digital camera?
  • When I use the text tool, I cannot use or type the letters “E”, “N” or “S”. Instead, it looks like these keys serve as a shortcut for other functions of PhotoImpact
    • Please try to reload your workspace. Click on "My Workspace" then click on the one you are currently using (basic, photo or advanced for example). When asked to save, choose no.
  • The Workspace looks rather dull because it is in grayscale. Can I get a colored workspace, like in the previous versions?
    • PhotoImpact 11 Advanced and Standard mode have a black and white interface (buttons) as default. This is designed to be unobtrusive and help the user focus on the colors of the image being worked on. Only the "Basic" profile has a colored setup on default. However if you choose, you can set the other profiles to colored mode as well. Click on the menu "My Workspace -> Customize". Go to the "Options" tab then check/enable the "Large Button" support.
  • How do I enable the Quick Color Control?
    • You can enable or show the "Quick Color Controls" from the Preferences of PhotoImpact 11. Click on the menu "File --> Preferences --> General" or click on [F6] on your keyboard. Go to the "Tools" tab and enable the option "Show Quick Color Control Panel".
