Technical FAQs
Q:
I upgraded to Windows® XP from Windows® 98 but I cannot run Ulead software anymore. Why?
A:

You need to login to Windows® XP as the Power-User or Administrator in order to run Ulead software.

Q:
How can I get rid of the advertisements at the top of the program?
A:

If the program has ads then you are running the freeware version. The ads are part of the normal operation of the program and cannot be turned off. To get rid of them you have to upgrade to the full paid version of the program.

Q:
How will I know if there is a new version of Ulead Photo Explorer available?
A:

If you downloaded Ulead Photo Explorer from Ulead you would have been prompted to enter your e-mail address. If you did this you will be sent a copy of the Ulead Flash newsletter, which will tell you about new versions of the program. You can also sign up to receive the Ulead News Flash.

Q:
I cannot figure out what the icons at the top of the program mean. How can I find out?
A:

If you leave the cursor over the button for about half a second a message will be put up that explains the function of the button. You can use this to learn the meaning of the button icons. If you want the text to be present all the time you can select the View->Toolbars function and check the Text Label function.

Q:
Can Ulead Photo Explorer be used to send images by e-mail?
A:
Ulead Photo Explorer is a MAPI application, meaning it works through the Microsoft Exchange protocol. Your e-mail software and/or e-mail provider must support this protocol to allow Photo Explorer to send. This should work with most common e-mail software such as Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express and Eudora. It will not work with network based e-mail systems however. To send pictures to your friends you may find it easier to use the iMira.com Web site to share your pictures.
Q:
When I used Ulead Photo Explorer to upload images to iMira.com Website but the images were much smaller after the transfer. Why?
A:
Ulead Photo Explorer automatically resizes large images so that they are less than 500 pixels maximum dimension and 100K bytes in size. Generally images that are viewed on the Web or on screen do not need to be larger than this, and larger images would take a very long time to upload on slower connection like dial-up modems. If you want to override the automatic settings it is easy to do. Select the Configure Internet Connection setting under the Internet menu. Then select the Transfer Options tab. Then you can enter the settings you prefer, or prevent the re-sizing altogether. Bear in mind there is a limit to the size of images that can be accepted by iMira.
