Q:
How come when attempting to run Ulead COOL 3D, I receive the error message "A required .DLL file, D3DRM.DLL, was not found"?
A:

Because Ulead COOL 3D makes use of Microsoft's new Direct 3D technology, you need to have DirectX drivers installed on your system to run Ulead COOL 3D. (New systems should all come with them onboard.) If you do not have them, or are unsure, you can download these free of charge from Microsoft's web site.

Q:
When I try to run Ulead COOL 3D after installation, it comes up with an error message "This program requires a 16-bit color mode to run".
A:

Ulead COOL 3D requires a display settings of High Color(16-bit) or higher for better qualities. Please follow the procedures to adjust the display setting:

  1. Open Control Panel: Display.
  2. Click on tab "Settings" and select "High Color(16-bit)" from Color Palette drop-down list.
  3. Click OK to apply the setting.
Q:
In the Easy Palette, how come the presets show up as black thumbnails? I also receive a GPF (General Protection Fault) error from time to time while working with Ulead COOL 3D.
A:
Be sure that you have downloaded the latest copy of DirectX from Microsoft's web site. Additionally, be sure that your graphics board driver supports DirectX. Check with your graphics board manufacturer regarding this matter.
If none of the above works, then DirectX most likely conflicts with your graphics board that may result in unexpected problems. As a workaround: Go to the Control Panel and pull up the System dialog box and click the Graphics button. Move the acceleration slider to one notch above None and then reboot.
