Q:
Does Ulead COOL 3D 3.0 support Windows NT4?
A:

Ulead COOL 3D 3.0 will not work with Windows NT4 because Windows NT4 does not support the DirectX 6.0 driver. (This program requires DirectX 6.0 or above to run.)

Q:
Does Ulead COOL 3D 3.0 support Windows 95?
A:

Ulead COOL 3D 3.0 will not work with the FIRST release of Windows 95 (Windows 95 OSR1). To check your version of Windows 95, go into the System folder in your Control Panel.

If you see Windows 95 4.00.95a at the top of your General tab, then you have the first release installed

Q:
I own the download version. Why do the presets in this version come up so slowly?
A:

In order to minimize the download version download time we streamlined the program, so it does not come with ready-to-go cache files for your presets (the cache files are what make your presets run quickly). However, your program can automatically create these cache files for you. Here's what to do:

  • Open a folder and let your presets run for a little while to allow your program to create cache files.
  • Close the folder and open it again; your presets should now be running faster, using the cache files just created.
  • This is a one-time procedure. Once you've automatically created cache files for a folder, you won't need to do so again; your presets should run quickly each time you open the folder.
Q:
How do I use presets from Ulead COOL 3D 2.5 in version 3.0?
A:

Before installing Ulead COOL 3D 3.0 you'll need to export the version 2.5 presets that you want to save. Once you've installed version 3.0, you can import your presets into the new program. Here's how you do it.

  1. In version 2.5, select the thumbnails you want to save from the EasyPalette. Right click on the thumbnails and select "Export...".
  2. In the "Export thumbnails" dialog box, select a folder, name the files and save them. The files will be saved as *.uez files.
  3. Install version 3.0. In 3.0, click the right mouse button on any thumbnail in the EasyPalette and select "Import...".
  4. In the "Import thumbnails" dialog box, select the files you want (*.uez) and click "Open". Your 2.5 presets will now appear in their respective folders in your EasyPalette.
Q:
What does it mean to Use Cache View (in the Image menu)?
A:

A new feature in version 3.0, Cache View dramatically decreases previewing time for your animated creations. When you view your animation the first time Cache View stores cache files for your project. Hence, the second and any subsequent viewings will be much faster, as the program doesn't need to re-render your project each time you run it.

NOTE: You'll need to re-select Use Cache View every time you open a new document.
