Creating a stunning DVD slideshow using the Movie Wizard

Memories can be captured within a snapshot and what better way to share them but with a slideshow. VideoStudio's Movie Wizard spices up your slideshows by adding graphics, text, and background music as well as animating photos using its Smart Pan & Zoom feature.

In this tutorial, learn how to apply an artistic theme that will make your slideshow more exciting to watch. Before you begin, download the sample images here.

Step 1: Creating a slideshow

  1. Click Insert Image to open the Add image clips dialog box. Browse for the images you downloaded earlier then click Open. The image files will be inserted in the Media Clip List. Click Next.

Tip: You can rearrange the sequence of the image clips by selecting a clip then dragging it to the desired position in the Media Clip List.

  2. Select Slideshow under Theme template then select the Old Film template from the list. Theme templates make your slideshows more enjoyable to watch by adding animated text, frames, graphics, and background music.

  3. Click to open the Settings dialog box and make sure that Smart Pan & Zoom is selected. Smart Pan & Zoom animates each image clip and makes it more dynamic.

  4. Select the overall length of the slideshow:

    1. Fit to image duration trims the music background to fit the total duration of the slideshow. By default, each image clip's duration is 3 seconds. You can change this by selecting a value under Change duration of image clips.
    2. Fit to background music tempo and duration adjusts the duration of each clip and the total duration of the slideshow to fit the background music's tempo and duration.
    3. Fit to background music tempo adjusts the duration of each clip to fit the background music's tempo.

For this tutorial, select Fit to background music tempo and duration then click OK.

  5. There are two animated titles in a theme template. They are at the start and end of the slideshow. To replace these titles, first select Remember when? from the Title list. Double-click the preset text in the Preview Window, then replace the text with "Family moments."

  6. Select Cherishing the Memories Forever from the Title list. Double-click the preset text in the Preview Window then replace the text with "Keep these moments in our hearts." Click Next.

Tip: Click to change the text's formatting.
