Creating a dazzling DVD home movie using the Movie Wizard

A home movie is an excellent way to document your daughter's birthday party, a friend's wedding, or maybe your son's little league game. However, making a home movie is a very tedious process. It involves different steps that usually consumes a lot of your time. VideoStudio's Movie Wizard lightens the load of video editing by doing most of the work, such as inserting graphics, text, and background music, for you. You can now create home movies that will amaze your friends and family in just a few simple steps.

Step 1: Capturing and editing your video

  1. Connect your camcorder to your computer and turn on the device. Set it to Play (or VTR / VCR) mode.

  2. Click Capture in the VideoStudio Movie Wizard and make sure that your device is selected in Source. Select DV from the Format list and specify the Capture folder in which to save the files.

  3. Use the Navigation Panel to position the tape on the part of the video where to start capturing.

Tip: Select Split by Scene to split the video depending on the recording time and date and save them as different files. This will make it easier for you to identify, edit, and remove scenes especially when you have a very long video.

  4. Click Capture Video to start capturing. Click Stop Capture or press [Esc] to end capturing. The captured videos will be added to the Media Clip List.

Tips: You can preview the captured clips by selecting them in the Media Clip List then clicking Play in the Navigation Panel.

  5. Remove unwanted elements at the beginning and at the end of the clip by dragging the Trim Handles to the desired start and end points. Click Next.
