Building Interactive Web Pages Part 2 - Adding Script Effects
Step Two: Create a Pop-up Menu
We will add a pop-up menu to the Standard Photos item.
Click the Slice Tool in the Tool Panel, then click the Standard Photos cell to select it. Next, right-click on the same cell and select Script Effects: Pop-up Menu to open the Pop-up Menu dialog box.
In this dialog box, enter the items that will be listed in the pop-up menu and specify the respective URL addresses where you want to link the menu items. After you finish entering the attributes of each item, click (+) to add it to the menu item list. To rearrange the order of menu items, select an item then click the up or down arrow button.
 |
Attributes used in the sample pop-up menu:
   Font: Verdana
   Size: 1 (8 pt)
   Normal: Background Color: #C2CE99
   Normal: Text Color: #464646
   Mouseover: Background Color: #5C5C5C
   Mouseover: Text Color: #FFFFFF
   Separator Color: #008800 |
Tip: Make sure that Fixed to cell width is selected to avoid text wrapping in the menu.
Now test to see if the pop-up menu works. Select File: Preview in Browser - Internet Explorer, click the Standard Photos item on the Web page, and try clicking on the menu items.
Select File: Save to save this project file before proceeding to the next step.
Step Three: Apply a Vertical Scroll Effect
In this step, we will apply the Vertical Scroll effect to the big rectangular area that's near the bottom end of the Web page.
Click the Pick Tool on the Attribute Toolbar, then click the big rectangular cell to select it. Next, right-click on the same cell, then select Script Effects: Vertical Scroll to open the Vertical Scroll dialog box.
Select Image under Type, then click the folder icon to locate the following files which are included in your downloaded file: waterfalls.jpg, homes.jpg, and lakes.jpg. Select them, then click (+) to add them to the image list. Select Keep aspect ratio to prevent the images from being distorted when displayed on the Web page. Click OK after adding all the images.
| Tips: |
- In the Vertical Scroll dialog box, you can add a URL to each image, adjust the Speed and Delay of the movement, and specify whether or not the scrolling movement should pause when you mouseover an image.
- To modify script effects, right-click on the cell, select Script Effects: Edit Script Effects, and select the corresponding effect.
- To preview the effect, select File: Preview in Browser - Internet Explorer. Select File: Save after you have finished adding both script effects.
