Retouching Portraits
Part I: Correcting the Red-Eye Effect
Red-eye is a typical problem with flash photography, and it can be quickly and easily corrected using PhotoImpact's Remove Red Eye Tool. Here's how:

|
The original image |
Step One:
If necessary, zoom in on the image first to get a better view of the eyes, which is what we did here. Then, select Retouch Tool - Remove Red Eye on the Tool Panel.
Step Two:
In the Attribute Toolbar, set the size of the brush so that it just covers the pupil of the eye. Set Level to 100, then click on the left eye of the image. The red-eye effect is corrected instantly.
Repeat the same process to remove the red-eye effect on the right eye of the image.

Tip: You can also use the Remove Red Eye Tool to correct the eye color of animals. Open the Tool Settings - Brush panel (which is docked at the right-hand side of the workspace) then choose the eye color to be corrected.
