Creating a Montage

Step Five: Create an Artistic Backdrop for Your Montage

Don't forget to save your work first as a UFO file when you're done so you can come back and modify your images again at a later time.

Select Edit: Duplicate - Base Image with Objects Merged to create a merged copy of your current work. This is done to make sure you leave the original UFO file intact.

Our final montage will be in the form of a postcard. We will need to create a new document for the postcard, then copy our merged image onto this document. To create a new document, select File: New - New Image. Select a black background and set the image size to 960 x 550 as used in this example.

Select the duplicate image again, then copy and paste everything onto your new document. Use a rectangle for the border or select a custom border from the EasyPalette.

Use your imagination to design the layout and add a few extras like text or stamped objects. The image below used H2O Drops and Leaves 3 from the Stamp Gallery in the EasyPalette.

Congratulations, you now know how to make professional looking montages using PhotoImpact.
