Creating a Montage
To make the selection, click to create a starting point on the image, then move your mouse around the outline of the desired object. Note the Detection scope option on the Attribute Toolbar which is represented by a small circle. The Detection scope determines the area to consider when creating the selection. The higher the value, the larger the area will be considered for selection.
Since the object we are using has irregular edges, set the Detection scope to the lowest possible value to prevent including unwanted areas in the selection.

Guide the small circle backwards along the created path to redo and retrace the object's outline. To create anchor points, click on the desired spot as you drag your mouse around the object.
Finish the selection by bringing your mouse back to the original starting point. You will see a rectangle appear to confirm that you are about to close the selected area.

After closing the selection, you will notice that the lasso surrounding the object has changed color. Click Finish on the Attribute Toolbar to confirm your selection. If you want to modify the selection, click Editing on the Attribute Toolbar then adjust the anchor points.
Specify a Soft Edge value to adjust the amount of blur around your selection. This will soften jagged edges around the selected object so that it will blend smoothly into the background when pasted later on. If you refer to the finished montage on the first page, you will notice that the object extracted from image D has a higher Soft Edge value than the objects extracted from images E and F. Try experimenting with different values to see how well an object will blend into its background.
After you are done modifying your selection, press [Ctrl+C] to copy the object, then click on the background image created earlier and press [Ctrl+V] to paste the selected object onto the canvas.

Step Four: Position Objects on the Montage
Do the same object selection and extraction procedure for images D and F, then copy and paste them onto the canvas. The images below show which subjects were selected and extracted from images D and F.

Position, resize, and adjust the soft edge or transparency of the pasted objects so that they blend seamlessly into the background.
