Scanning Multiple Images Using Photo Explorer

Set slicing preferences

  1. Now let's set the parameters for slicing your first batch of photos. Click File: TWAIN Acquire - Acquire Now (with Auto Slicing). The Auto Slicing dialog box is displayed.
  1. Specify the background color of your scanner, which is usually black or white. This is the color that will be physically taken by the gaps between your photos. This will then be discarded later when slicing.

If you are not certain of your scanner's background color, you may select Auto detect.
  1. Under Number of images to slice, select User defined and specify the number of photos to be scanned and sliced.
  1. Tolerance determines how close the color of a pixel in your photo must be compared to the color of the gap to be sliced or cut from it.

If you have a white gap color and photos that are generally dark, a high Tolerance value is enough to give you good results.

Whereas if your photos are light and their edges tend to blend with the white gaps, you need to set a lower Tolerance value for more precise cutting. Let us first set Tolerance at 5.

The above images show how adjacent pixels are separated using a lower tolerance value (left) and a higher tolerance value (right).
