Scanning Multiple Images Using Photo Explorer

Are you scanning a large number of photos to archive or creating a digital album of your favorite snapshots to share on the Web? Cut the highly time- and effort-consuming requirements needed to capture and save each photo one by one. Scan several photos in a single pass and use Photo Explorer's auto-slicing feature to cut and save each one as a separate image file automatically.

You can scan images to your computer by using a TWAIN compliant scanner. For this tutorial, it is best to use the flatbed type. Although you can also use handheld and sheet fed scanners, a flatbed type will allow you to easily arrange your photos on its glass plate, keep them together under the lid, and scan them at a steady, optimal rate.

Prepare your photos and scanner

  1. Before you start, make sure first that the scanner driver is properly installed and that the scanner cable is securely connected to the computer.
  1. Click File: New Folder to create a folder for saving your photos.

  1. Arrange your photos in a grid on the scanner bed. Avoid overlapping and be sure to place ample gaps in between. This will allow Photo Explorer to slice more accurately as the distance between photos can be distinctly identified. Try to group your photos according to certain categories such as date taken, event, or location to make it easier for you to name and locate them later.

  1. Select your scanner. Click File: TWAIN Acquire - Select Source.
  1. Select your scanner in the Select Source dialog box, and then click Select. If your scanner is not on the list, check your cable connection as it may be loose only, or the device driver may not have been installed properly.
