Using the DVD-VR Capture Plug-in and DVD-VR Wizard

DVD-VR (Video Recording) is a widely accepted video recording format often used with hardware devices, such as DVD camcorders or DVD set-top recorders. It was created by the DVD Forum to bring the familiar functionality of VCRs to video editing. The DVD VR format allows users to insert a video segment anywhere on a DVD-RAM or -RW disc, just as they would with a VHS tape.

With Ulead's DVD-VR Capture plug-in and DVD-VR Wizard in MediaStudio Pro 7, consumers who own DVD-RAM/R camcorders or DVD set-top recorders that use the VR format can now edit and write video back to the VR format or convert the video file to a DVD-Video format (DVD-R/RW or VCD discs).

In this tutorial, you will learn how to capture videos in the VR format and afterwards, burn the video back to the DVD-VR format media.

Let's start by capturing DVD-VR format videos using the Ulead DVD-VR Capture plug-in:

  1. In the Video Capture module, select Setup: Switch Capture Plug-in.

  1. In the Change Capture Plug-in dialog box, select Ulead DVD-VR Plug-in from the Current capture plug-in drop-down menu. Click OK.

  1. Select Capture: Capture Template Manager. Select an NTSC or PAL template then click OK.

  1. Select Capture: Video [F5], the Capture Video dialog box opens.

  1. In the Capture Video dialog box, click Properties then select the VIDEO_TS or DVD_RTAV folder. Click OK.
