Recording back to a DV device from the Timeline

MediaStudio Pro allows you to record back to a DV device from the Timeline. This means that you can export the contents of your Timeline directly to a tape using the appropriate output device. In this tutorial, we'll use a DV camcorder.

To record back to a DV device from the Timeline:

  1. Click File: Project Settings - Edit to open the Project Options dialog box.
  1. Select the type of compression you'd like to use from the Compression drop-down list in the AVI tab.
  1. Specify the type of data track from the drop-down list under the General tab. If it's just a sound track, select the Audio Only option. If it's all video, select the Video Only option. If it's a combination of both, select the Video and Audio option.
  1. Specify the frame type, the frame size, and the display aspect ratio (whether it be 4:3 or 16:9) in the General tab.
  1. Specify the TV standard and the number of overlay tracks in the Video Editor tab.
  1. Set the options according to your preferences (e.g., set the audio format to DV Audio-NTSC/PAL in the Audio Format dropdown list in the AVI tab, etc.) then click OK.
  1. Click OK to close the Project Settings dialog box.
