Creating custom menu overlays using PhotoImpact

Use PhotoImpact to create a custom overlay that you can apply to your menu background.

  1. Select File: New - New Image. For the size of the image, use 768 x 576 pixels or smaller.

  2. Use PhotoImpact's tools to create menu overlays. Make sure that the menu overlay is an image object. To convert to an image object, select Object: Convert Object Type.

    If you used two or more objects to create your menu overlay, merge them as a single object. To merge as a single object, select Object: Merge as Single Object.

  3. Open the Layer Manager by clicking Layer Manager in the Panel Manager.

  4. In the Layer Manager, change the object name, by clicking it, to IMG_BG_FRAME.

  1. Select File: Save. Save the image as a UFO file.

You have just created a menu overlay that you can use for your DVD Workshop menu background. To use this overlay, load the overlay into the DVD Workshop Library. In DVD Workshop, go to the Menu Step then in the Library, select Object - Menu Overlay in the Library list. Click Load Image File and in the Load Image File dialog box, locate the file then click Open.
