Creating frames for your menu buttons and objects using PhotoImpact
Creating a custom frame
Select File: New - New Image. For the size of the image, use a size that has an aspect ratio of 4:3 (e.g. 400 x 300 pixels).
Use PhotoImpact's tools to create your frame. The frame must contain 2 objects, the actual frame and a path object. Make sure that both objects are image objects. To convert to image objects, select Object: Convert Object Type.
Open the Layer Manager by clicking in the Panel Manager.
In the Layer Manager, change the frame object name to Frame and the path object (where the video/image thumbnail will be placed) name to Scene.
Rearrange the stacking order so that the path object is below the frame object. To rearrange, drag the path object below the frame object in the Layer Manager.
Select File: Save. Save the image as a UFO file.
You have just created a frame that you can use for your menu buttons and objects. To use this frame, load the frame into the DVD Workshop Library. In DVD Workshop, go to the Menu Step then in the Library, select Frame - General in the Library list. Click Load Frame File and in the Load Frame File dialog box, locate the file then click Open.
Creating a custom frame using another image editing program
You can create your frame using another image editing program. After creating the frame, save the file in the PSD file format.
Open the file in PhotoImpact. When you open the file, the Open PSD File dialog box opens. In the dialog box, select Open each layer as an object.
In the Layer Manager, change the frame object name to Frame and the path object (where the video/image thumbnail will be placed) name to Scene.
Rearrange the stacking order so that the path object is below the frame object. To rearrange, drag the path object below the frame object in the Layer Manager.
Before saving the file, check if the base image is showing. To check, select View: Base Image.
