"Roll-over" Effects using Auto-Activating Buttons

Now, to link the button menus between each other and to the content. The viewer of this DVD may decide to shuffle between the buttons before making their selection.

First, double-click on Roll menu1 to invoke it into the large workspace. Link Button1 to the content you desire to play. Do not apply Auto Activate.

Then, drag Roll menu2 to link it to Button2. Apply Auto Activate. This will allow the viewer to activate the other button option on this menu by simply navigating to it.

Now, double-click on Roll menu2 to invoke it into the large workspace. Link Button2 to the content you desire to play. Do not apply Auto Activate.

Then, drag Roll menu1 to link it to Button1. Apply Auto Activate. This will allow the viewer to activate the other button option on this menu by simply navigating to it.

NOTE: If you do not wish to have highlight colors popping up in your menus, as the “roll overs” are sufficient to demonstrate navigation, you can go back to the Attribute panel, under Style, and select “None” for your highlight sets.

You’re done! You can now go to the Finish step to preview the behavior you’ve just created. The roll overs will not be instant and you should not expect them to be. In fact, your DVD disc will behave in the same way. This is a function of the DVD player needing to seek for the new menu from another part of the disc. But it is a cool effect none-the-less.
