Part 2: Trimming a
video clip in Video tab
The Video tab has three handy tools for
cutting video. You will find each of them useful depending on your need.
Set Mark-in/Mark-out is best for simple one-time trimming.
Multi-trim Video is great for multiple cutting. Learn more about this feature
in Less is More: Quick
editing with Multi-trim.
Split Video is designed for splitting a clip based on scene change.
In
this tutorial let us just do a simple exercise in trimming a video using Mark-in/Mark-out.
To trim frame-by-frame using Mark-in/Mark-out:
1. Select the HM_General 03_start.wmv segment in the Video track.
2. Click Set Mark-in/Mark-out to open the Set Mark-in/Mark-out dialog box.
3.
Zoom in to single frame level. Jog the slider to select frame 00:00:00:02.
This is where the segment will start. Click to set mark-in point.

5.
Drag the Jog slider to select frame 00:00:07:26 at the end. This
is where the segment will end. Click to set mark-out point.
6. Click OK.
You have just removed
a few frames from the start and end of the video. Video
Duration has changed from 0:00:07.29 to 0:00:07.25.

If
the segment has an embedded audio, Clip Volume will allow you to adjust
volume and fade in/out settings. If you want to adjust brightness, select Auto
Enhance Video.
Let us now proceed to work on
our titles.
