Quick edit your video with Edit Room

The Edit Room is a complete editing suite in DVD MovieFactory. Six Task tabs put customizable presets and different editing tools right at your fingertips. The Edit Room is all you need to quickly apply themes, trim clips, and add titles, music, voice, and transition effects without having to leave your DVD authoring enviroment.

In this tutorial, we will apply a preset theme to a video clip and then customize it using the different functions available in Edit Room.

You can download these two clips to use in this tutorial -- hobby.mpg and happy_tune.mpa or use your own video and audio clips.

Note: Remember, when editing video in Edit Room, you don't have to worry about altering your source files. Editing a video changes only the project file and does not change the actual source video file.

Part 1: Applying a preset theme in Theme tab

To begin, add hobby.mpg to your project in Select source and import (Step: 1/3). Select the clip and click Edit Room to open the Edit Room dialog box. The Theme tab is displayed. Let us now apply a preset theme.

To apply a preset theme:

1. Choose a preset theme. Select General 03 for now and click Apply Theme.

2. In the message prompt, click OK to confirm your selection. The theme is instantly applied to the video clip.

Tips: Click Switch to Timeline so that all tracks of your video clip are shown. To see all elements without having to scroll, click Fit Timeline View . This makes editing a lot easier. Click Play anytime to preview editing results.

In the timeline, you will notice that transition effects, overlays, titles, and music have been added. Let us now edit the video clip in the Video tab.
