Video Titles

Video Titles
One of the cooler things you can do with Ulead COOL 3D is create wild, three-dimensional title effects to use when putting together digital videos. Using a video editor, such as the one in Ulead's award-winning MediaStudio Pro, you can key out the alpha channels in a Ulead COOL 3D image sequence and seamlessly composite your 3D text into the movie.

  1. Create your title in Ulead COOL 3D. You can either leave it as a single, still image, or you can turn it into an animation.

  2. When your image or animation is ready, click the File: Create Image Files - TGA File menu command.

  3. When the Save As TGA dialog box opens, enter the name of your image file or animation, as well as the destination folder, and then check the Save As Image Sequence option as well as the Transparent Background option.

  4. Click the Save button. Each frame in animation is saved with an alpha channel blocking out everything except for the 3D text you created and is labeled sequentially.

  5. In your video editor, load the image sequence into one of the overlay channels. (And make sure that the base video, the one you intend to overlay the titles over, is in a track 'under' the overlay track.)

In Ulead MediaStudio Pro, this is any track from V1 to V99. In Adobe Premiere, this is Video Track 2.

  6. Select the overlay track containing your title and then key out the alpha channel so all that remains in the clip is your text superimposed over the video.

In Ulead MediaStudio Pro, this can be done by right clicking over the COOL 3D title track and selecting the Overlay Options menu command. When the Overlay Options dialog box opens, select Alpha Channel from the type menu. The alpha channel is automatically keyed out, leaving only the text perfectly superimposed over the base video track. Click OK and the dialog box closes.

  7. All that's left to do now is output the video and you're done.
