PROCEDURES/APPROXIMATE TIMES REQUIRED:
- If the teacher has Internet access they
should familiarize themselves with the materials available at
the two sites listed above under “Internet Resources”
in order to look at additional lesson plans and activities involving
the reading of poems.
- The teacher should introduce the students
to a variety of grade level appropriate poetry (available in the
class or at the school library) by reading and discussing these
poems and having students respond about their thoughts/feelings
etc. (1-2 hours)
- The student teams should read several different
poems and select one poem to be presented by the team. They should
familiarize themselves with the poem, and each member will record,
in writing, in their word processing program, their reflections
on the poem. (1 hour)
- The team should storyboard and script their
presentation to include the reading of the poem by one or more
members of the team, and the video recording of each team member’s
reflections on the poem. (1-2 hours)
- Each team will record the reading of their
poem and each team member’s written reflections. (1hour)
- Each team will edit and author their video
onto tape, VCD or DVD. (4 hours)
- The team will present their video to the class
and answer any questions. (30 minutes)
